SMOOTH TAKE THE COMMERCIAL RADIO TOP SPOT IN THE EAST MIDLANDS

Smooth Radio East Midlands has taken the top spot for commercial radio stations for the first time. According to the latest figures from RAJAR, the feel-good station attracts a record-high 459,000 adult listeners a week. The blend of great presenters including Gareth Evans and Kate Garraway, playing relaxing and refreshing music has proven to be a winning combination for the East
Midlands. Figures have jumped up by 176,000 over the last 4 years. “This is exceptionally good news,” says Jamie Griffiths, Programme Director for Smooth Radio East Midlands. “We have been watching the figures grow since 2013 and getting to number one in the region shows that we understand what listeners want.
“That’s why we see peak listening figures during morning and afternoon commuting times. We know how stressful driving in the rush hour can be, so we do everything we can do to make it an oasis of calm for our audience. We care about the way our listeners feel.”
For advertisers too, its great news. James McCartney, Business Development Director for Appliance City, has been advertising on Smooth Radio East Midlands for 8 years. “We’re a national brand, but have a local showroom,” says James. “Almost all our local advertising budget is spent with Smooth Radio, and it gets great results. Smooth Radio listeners are a perfect fit for our brand and no other local station can
