Prime spot on Bridlesmith Gate let to national retailer

Nottingham-based commercial property agent, Box Property, has secured the letting of 11 Bridlesmith Gate on behalf of a private client.

Now leased by national retailer David Clulow Opticians as the site of its first Nottingham store, the property is located in the heart of Nottingham’s retail quarter.

Formerly occupied by clothing retailer Joules, which has moved to a larger property on the same street, David Clulow Opticians opened its doors to the 924 sq ft ground floor store earlier this month.

On Bridlesmith Gate, the opticians has joined join some of Nottingham’s most aspirational retailers including Jack Wills, Hugo Boss, Ted Baker and Flannels. The property has been let at a rent of £75,000 per annum over a new 10-year lease.

Ben Tebbutt, director of Box Property, said: “It’s no secret that Bridlesmith Gate has struggled over recent years, primarily due to lack of development in the Broadmarsh area but also because of the difficulties being experienced in the retail economy as a whole.

“However, Bridlesmith Gate has seen some recent activity with Joules, Pretty Green, Kanoo Travel and Goldsmith Jewellers all relocating to stores on Bridlesmith Gate. Coupled with David Clulow Opticians, which is a new addition to the area, this shows that appetite still exists for Bridlesmith Gate, which remains one of Nottingham’s premier locations.

“This property is a highly visible and characterful store on the junction of Bridlesmith Gate and St Peter’s Gate. It’s easily accessible from Intu Victoria Centre, Clumber Street and the hopefully soon to be redeveloped Intu Broadmarsh.”

Box Property works with an impressive portfolio of local and national brands including Universal Works, 200 Degrees, West Cornwall Pasty Company, Bunk Bar, Clean Cut, Iberico, Cow Clothing, QD Stores and Ideal Care Homes.

Commercial agent Stephen Kane & Co acted on behalf of David Clulow Opticians.
