In addition to contributing £1,000 to a farm in St Ann’s as part of a new initiative, representatives from Barratt and David Wilson Homes North Midlands recently visited the community facility for a day of volunteering.
The leading developer has given Nottingham’s Stonebridge City Farm the funding to help them care for a range of animals, grow seasonal vegetables and herbs whilst providing support for those with a learning disability or a high support mental health difficulty.
The sponsorship comes following the launch of Barratt and David Wilson Homes’ Community Fund scheme, where the housebuilder donates up to £1,000 a month to charities and organisations in the area.
After presenting the charity with the cheque, a total of nine representatives from Barratt and David Wilson Homes donned their wellies to help build shelters, feed animals, gardening and assisting in the barns and café.
Peter Armitage, Farm Manager, commented: “We were so pleased to welcome the teams from Barratt and David Wilson Homes on site. They were so helpful in all areas of the farm and arrived on an incredibly busy day, during the school Easter holidays.
“They worked in and around all our visitors on a packed site, alongside staff and volunteers. We are very grateful for all their help and, for their generous donation from their Community Fund scheme.
“Thank you so much to everyone at Barratt and David Wilson Homes, who have chosen to work with the farm as one of their charities partners.”
Established nearly 40 years ago, Stonebridge City Farm offers a family friendly day out for visitors seven days a week and is currently trying to raise £30,000 to stay open throughout the year.
Chris Southgate, Managing Director at Barratt and David Wilson Homes North Midlands, said: “Stonebridge City Farm is an excellent facility for those living in Nottinghamshire and we’re thrilled to be able to offer our support with the launch of our Community Fund scheme.
“Not only are we pleased to offer our financial support, we’re proud of our representatives who visited the farm to lend a hand through volunteering.
“As the country’s largest housebuilder we are committed to creating a positive legacy. We want to lead the industry not just in the quality of the homes and developments we build, but also in our work with charities and good causes throughout the UK.”
