PROMINENT independent financial adviser John Stanley has joined Nelsons Solicitors as a partner, heading the firm’s specialist investment management team.
John, who will be leading what is now a substantial department at Nelsons, has more than 25 years’ experience of providing financial advice to clients while at law firm Freeths and Lloyds Bank.
As an experienced independent financial adviser, John has plans to grow Nelsons’ established team who currently manage more than £120 million of investments for clients both in the East Midlands and nationwide.
John said: “I am pleased to have joined such an established firm and be part of its future growth. The investment management team at Nelsons has notably expanded over the past three years and now forms a significant part of the firm’s offering to clients. I am looking forward to building on its success and bringing my expertise and industry knowledge to the firm to help grow the client base still further.”
John joins Nelsons from Freeths where he was based for more than 22 years as head of its financial services company Meritor Financial Management Limited.
John said: “I am joining Nelsons at a very exciting time. From an investment perspective, the majority of equity markets are currently at record highs, and yet overall, the global economic outlook remains positive. This all comes during the uncertainty of the Brexit vote, the US election, and a number of imminent European general elections, now including the UK.
“Despite this backdrop there is still appetite to invest across most markets including equities, fixed interest, and property. However, this should be undertaken with a degree of caution and, as always, include an element of cash investment. This is where the benefit of receiving sound, detailed, and impartial independent financial advice comes into its own.
“I am looking forward to a new challenge and ensuring our clients continue to receive the personal service and high quality advice for which Nelsons is renowned.”
Tim Hastings, chief executive at Nelsons, said: “John is very well known and highly regarded and he has a great deal of specialist expertise. John’s extensive knowledge will support the continued growth of the team and help cement our position in the sector.”
John and the team provide a wide range of services to include advice on investments, inheritance tax planning, retirement and succession planning. As a full service law firm, the work of the investment management team often overlaps with that of the other teams in the firm, such as wills, probate and trusts, personal injury, corporate and family law.
