Howard Ward Associates announces trio of appointments

Leading consulting engineers Howard Ward Associates (HWA) has expanded its team with the appointment of Mark Lusher as a principal engineer, and Babar Ahmed and Miles Foster as engineers.

The Nottingham-based firm has a 30-year track record of successfully delivering construction engineering consultancy services across a range of sectors, including education, healthcare, emergency services, commercial and residential.

Dan Bailey, partner at HWA, said: “We have experienced a very busy 12 months and that is set to continue throughout 2018. To accommodate that business growth we are continuing to expand our skilled team and it really is fantastic to have so much talent join us.

“Mark has extensive experience in the industry and we’re looking forward to sharing his expertise with our existing and future clients. Babar and Miles have demonstrated a passion and dedication to the sector and they will both be a real asset to the firm.”

Mark Lusher, who has 15 years of experience in the industry and studied civil engineering at the University of Bolton, joins HWA from Arup where he worked as a senior engineer.

In his new role, Mark will be responsible for leading projects, supporting and mentoring the firm’s team and working closely with the firm’s client base.

He said: “I’m very proud to be joining such a well-established firm in the East Midlands. HWA has a very hands-on and proactive approach and I’m looking forward to building the client base further and working across the firm’s varied and extensive portfolio of projects.”

Babar Ahmed specialises in structural calculations and studied civil engineering at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow.  He joins HWA from Patrick Parsons.

Babar will be responsible for undertaking structural design calculations, producing drawings and liaising with clients and other project related consultants.

He said: “HWA has a fantastic reputation across the region and further afield and my skills are a good fit for the firm. With an ambitious growth strategy, it’s an exciting time to be joining the business and I’m looking forward to working with the team.”

Miles Foster joins the team whilst studying for his civil and infrastructure engineering degree at Derby University, and will be responsible for creating civil engineering designs and structure drawings.

He said: “I have a passion for engineering and was keen to get involved with the opportunities and projects that HWA has to offer. An existing member of the team suggested me for the position and I’m so glad that he did, it is the perfect fit for me. I will have the opportunity to further my experience and skill-set and build a long-term career with the firm.”

Dan added: “I’d like to welcome Mark, Babar and Miles to the team and look forward to working with them on our local and national projects.”

Mark, Babar and Miles will be based at HWA’s HQ in Radcliffe on Trent in Nottingham. Their appointments bring the team total to 15.
