A Leighton Buzzard cheerleading team’s new floor fund has been given a ‘grand’ boost by a leading housebuilder.
Persimmon Homes Midlands has selected the Future Games Allstars cheerleading academy to receive a £1,000 Community Champions donation.
The match-funding scheme seeks to support groups and charities working to improve the quality of life or environment across the region.
Claire Dearsley, sales director at Persimmon Homes Midlands, said: “We are always interested in clubs and groups working to provide young people with exciting opportunities. The Future Games Allstars provide tuition in competitive and recreational cheerleading for local children, helping them to develop confidence and teamwork skills as well as improving physical fitness. We are delighted to support their fundraising for a proper cheer floor.”
The Future Games Allstars, based at Cedars Upper School, offers affordable training in cheerleading and tumbling skills, led by United Kingdom Cheerleading Association instructors, with some students going on to perform at local events. To enable the club to continue to grow and improve, they need to purchase proper cheer floor matting, which will allow children to practice safely on the same surface that is used in competitions. Community Champions invites local groups and charities to bid for cash, with two donations of up to £1,000 being made locally each month.
Persimmon has also recently launched a further funding programme – Building Futures – which focuses on support for people aged under 18 in the categories of sport, education and health.
